The CV Girls’ Soccer team hosted Foothill for the semifinal round of the North Coast Section (NCS) playoffs last Wednesday evening in an event that became a shocker to all. On a beautiful night for soccer, while many fans were still trying to find their seats, the first and only goal of the game was scored. Teams of Alameda County Sheriff’s deputies working with 14 other police agencies shut down a huge East Bay prostitution network Thursday, arresting 32 suspects at 13 businesses and homes in Castro Valley and the surrounding area. “It was a concerned Castro Valley citizen who provided the initial tip on this,” said Sgt. Stacy Lee, who works for Stacy Monroe’s Hair Salon in Castro Valley, has been cutting Kyle Shaw-Powell’s hair since he was 12. There was a long period of time, though, when she has just trimmed the ends of his freely growing chestnut-colored locks. It was two and a half years ago when Shaw-Powell, now 18, decided to donate his hair to Locks of Love—an organization that provides prosthetics to children affected by a disease. …. Read more
