That buzz around town is over the 36th Annual Castro Valley Chamber of Commerce Fall Festival that’s just weeks away.
“Taking the festival to the street was really Nate’s ( Supervisor Miley) idea, and since we started that, the festival has gotten bigger and better,” explained Chamber Executive Director, Roberta Rivet. “It’s really become a regional fair, that attracts more and more from Castro Valley and beyond.” …. It has been a month since the new hands-free law was put into effect, on July 1, and according to CHP Public Affairs Officer Roland Tuazon, “It appears that people are on the ball with this one.”
The new law prohibits drivers 18 and over from using a handheld cell phone while driving and prohibits drivers younger than 18 from using cell phones while driving completely, even with a hands-free device. …. More

It must certainly have been a change of pace for Ricky and Theresa Fong to be seated in the dining area of Fong’s Dang How Restaurant in Castro Valley at 4:30 last Friday afternoon and not be overcome by the pleasant chatter of customers eating or the sound of cooks working in the kitchen.
