Two Castro Valley teens, 18- year-old Clark Wright and his passenger, 17-year-old Sarah Streicher, were killed shortly after midnight on Tuesday in a high-speed crash on westbound Dublin Canyon Road.
The sports car Wright was driving was demolished after it hit a power pole, flipped over and smashed into a fence bordering I-580. …. More
My heart goes out to the family and friends of these young people. Having teenagers of my own, I know that this could have easily been one of them. I can’t imagine what they must be going through.
I am so sorry, this is so sad. We warn our loved ones about drugs and alcohol, but speed is also a vicious killer. Young people: be aware CVHS has arranged to provide counseling services to any students who would like help dealing with or sharing about the death of their fellow students. Between now and the start of the school year, these services can be accessed 8-4 in the main office conference room. Please make this info available to whomever you talk to about this sad event, so they know they have the choice to seek this assistance.
i am so sorry to the friends and mainly family of these people. my sister was friends with them so i am truly sorry for her loss and many of the other people. rest in peace clark and sarah. <3
Parents: If you even THINK this could have “easily” been your child, take stock of this thought and sit down with your child RIGHT NOW and have a long talk.
To those parents who are fortunate enough to provide your teen with a Corvette, BMW, Lexis, Hummer…etc. Your money can buy a lot of things including clout, persuasion, and envy – but it cannot buy immortality. Do not lavish your child with material things without also teaching them the simple things like accountability for one’s own actions.
To teens in general: This is a wake up call for all of you. Think and act responsibly, if you’re friends don’t want to – then find new friends. It could be a matter of life or death.
I’m angry, can you tell? Will this incident change anything? We’ll see, won’t we?
I have known Debra and Ralph many years, and although we have not been in contact for a while, the kindness and support they extended to me at one of the lowest points in my life will always be cherished; you truly find out who your friends are when the going gets tough. My wife and I remember Sarah from PW; she was such a beautiful, grounded young lady, a real winner. I was just sick when I heard this and we are so terribly sorry this tragedy took place. Please accept our deepest sympathy and prayers.
What a terrible loss for both families and our community. Teens racing around in very powerful cars is an issue the entire community needs to address immediately. We are responsible for teaching our kids the power they wield when they get behind the wheel. Let us learn from what has happened and take steps to prevent this from happening again. If we save even one life it will have been worth it.
Very Sad, I understand they were pretty good kids. My thoughts and prayers are with the families.
This kind of tragedy has most likely surfaced many bad memories while growing up. Every year in about every High School something like this occurs, I can remember back to multiple instances, families devastated, and any survivors damaged for life. Still know a person who survived (driver) while his girl died, he’s never been the same, never been able to put the guilt behind him after 35 years.
Even with such a terrible loss, it could have been worse, No moms with a Minivan full of kids were involved, or pedestrians etc. Unfortunately this type of racing happens during the daytime too, even on 580 during somewhat heavy traffic kids are out racing each other. I call CHP every time I see this, and encourage other to do the same.
I and many others enjoy racing in a controlled environment such as Sears Point in Sonoma, but there is absolutely no place for this on the street. We all Hope and pray that some teen makes a change in his/her life after this.
Still wonder after looking at the accident pictures why the airbag did not deploy. Hard to say if that would have helped, but the picture I saw of the steering wheel showed it complete, just bent with no deployment.
Please let’s keep the blame game down about parents and corvette’s, and put your anger somewhere else. The families didn’t ask for this to happen, it was just a tragic error in judgement. Could have been a toyota corrola with the same results.

To the Wright Family,
The day before graduation, I gathered the entire senior class at CVHS in the CFA. As their Ass’t. Principal I felt compelled to speak from the heart. I talked to them about making good decisions and shared specifics about losing at least one student every year for the last 15 years. I asked then begged them to understand the pain that parents and friends suffer at the loss of a child. “I don’t think I can handle one more loss,” I told them. I am sorry to take a month to tell you how it pains me to send you my sympathy. Clark was a joy – a very sweet young man, with a mischievous smile, and a good heart.
My most heart-felt thoughts are with you and your extended family and friends.
