Safeway to Get Stricter On Alcohol September 16, 2009

Castro Valley’s Safeway supermarket, forced to pull alcohol off of it shelves for 45 days this summer because of sales violations, is taking a hard line on those who attempt to obtain liquor illegally.
“Parents have come in begging forgiveness and we want them to know that no one will be let go,” warned Safeway’s Public Affairs Director Susan Houghton at last Wednesday’s meeting of the Eden Area Alcohol Policy Group in Castro Valley. “This is now zero tolerance and parents need to understand that we will prosecute everyone.” Read more
